Hoop peg knife
A hook-shaped blade like that used by a spoon or bowl maker. The wooden handle is missing. It was used when held almost vertically for cutting off the tips of small wooden pegs used to join leather upper to the sole of a shoe, and sole to inner sole. Pegs had the property of swelling when wet, so helping to make the leather boot or shoe watertight. G.Beech 6/9/13
