Swatch of tweed
Swatches of tweed held in card top which is covered in blue imitation leather (thin plastic with textured surface) and has printed inscription in gold. The edges of the plastic are heat-sealed. The card top is held on with two copper alloy screws which extend through all swatches. Each fabric has small self-adhesive label on the front with swatch number written on in blue biro.
Blue card top has silver/grey rope attachment for hanging (cellulosic core covered with silk? fibre). The rope is fed through 2 copper alloy grommets which are set into the card and probably is held in place with knots on the inside. A small self adhesive paper label is adhered to the top of the card top (in-between the grommets). However, it has yellowed badly and cannot be deciphered (possibly reads '1978' in blue biro).
A woven manufacturer's label has been stapled to the front of the uppermost swatch, (yellow and white inscription on black ground). Part of this has been cut off, however, and is no longer fully legible. Another staple is driven in beside the label, but does not appear to hold anything.
