Basket base
Coiled basket base of a lip-work basket, made by Benjamin Evans, Bwlch-llan, west Wales, 1900s. He worked from the centre and coiled the straw around to make the base.
This example was made by Benjamin Evans of Pen-uwch, Cardiganshire, one of the last lip-workers in Wales. This demonstrates the technique involved in making a lip work basket.
