Wedding hat
Hat worn by Mrs Norah Spoonley of Oldham on her wedding day in 1941. Her husband came from Montgomeryshire. Brown artificial silk with very shallow crown, stitched in pleats all around, top trimmed with spray of tiny pink flowers and leaves and asymmetric veil of large mesh brown net, decorated with machine chain stitch and edging of matching machine lace. Self fabric band at back, with bow at side, and joined by elastic, holds hat in position on head.
