Hirwaun Ironworks, photograph
Photograph captioned 'Hirwaun Ironworks. John Mayberry of Worcestershire took out a lease in 1757. The great Anthony Bacon was the proprietor for a time. In 1818 William Crawshay II bought the works for his son Francis and four new blast furnaces were then built. The rounded nature of the stone furnaces within their square, outer walls is recognisable in these ruins'. Mounted on card. Made for the exhibition RECORDING WALES 3 in 1970/1971.
