Roman stone moulding
The right end is chiselled flat, and the back is sawn and snapped-off; there is a chiselled channel 5mm wide on the upper surface. The moulded surface is unsmoothed, and still shows the marks of the mason's point; given the findspot, it seems possible that this piece was broken and rejected during manufacture.
