Dish
Small hexagonal dish, earthenware, standing on a narrow, circular foot rim, spreading sides, the rim moulded in eight lobes of equal size, the ninth and tenth moulded to form a horizontal handle in the form of a ribbon tied in a bow; the central well formed as a hexagonal within an incised rim; transfer printed in brown in the centre with the 'Milan' pattern, two figures standing in the foreground beneath a large tree on a promontary above a winding river with Italianate buildings to either side; the rim, printed with bouquets of flowers and trailing vine leaves on a moulded banded- basketwork ground, the outer rim with a narrow egg and dart style border.
