Design for glazed screen, CVA
HISCOTT, Amber (Amber Hiscott was born in London in 1951, lived in Swansea in her teens, attended Swansea Art College 1972-75, and set up her studio in Swansea in 1976. Her work is particularly influenced by the work of Mark Rothko and by the stained glass designs of Chagall. She seeks to add 'a mystical element' to glass, painting and etching it, staining it with silver sulphide and injecting sand onto it. Hiscott made an Art Déco canopy for Liberty's in 1984 (Tanya Harrod, 'The Crafts in Britain in the 20th Century' (Yale, 1999), p.453).)
