Patchwork quilt
Patchwork quilt, about 1840-50. Maker unknown, but owned by Mary Harris of Letterston.
Top cover of multi-coloured chintz floral print, with a central field of hexagons. Lines of plain yellow, pink, red and blue glazed cotton with flower heads of pink hexagons on a white ground wholecloth back. Quilting pattern follows hezagons in central field, with border of sycamore and horse chestnuts leaves, and large flower heads in corners. Fillings of sprials, single and triple cable. Wave and half flower-heads very well quilted. Hand-stitched hem. Carded wool filling.
