Roman window glass
Grozed edge. Both sides of this fragment are glossy. It is either a fragment from a late Roman (third century onwards) blown pane, or from a post-medieval pane. Its context, on top of a cobbled area immediately below the subsoil, prevents certianty at this point, although the date of the cobble would not preclude a Roman origin
