Dish, of round form, soft-paste porcelain,grit speckled and discoloured in patches; standing on a tapering foot rim, rounded spreading sides, the rim moulded with six large and six small lobes with raised feathered c-scrolls, foliage and tied ribbons, fluted moulding to sides of the central well; painted in the centre with nine butterflies; one large with purple, yellow and orange wings and a selection of smaller ones, painted in combinations of yellow, purple and blue, some with wings outstretched, some closed; the rim painted with five small butterflies in the same polychrome colours and one ladybird with six spots; gilding to the raised moulding and with a broad gilt band to the outer rim.
