Mug, earthenware, rounded slightly spreading foot-rim, cylindrical sides, gadrooned band around the foot-rim and exterior lip-rim, angular handle with raised foliate moulded thumb-spur and foliate moulded upper and lower terminals; transfer-printed in manganese purple with around the exterior sides of the body a design of exotic birds perched on sprays of flowers and foliage below a deep border of flowers, foliage and scrolls on a stippled manganese purple ground from which issues spreading rococo clusters of scrolls and flower heads, dentilled border to the interior lip-rim of star and floral motifs, flowers, foliage and scrolls to the handle, a long crack extends down one side of the mug and across the base.
