Early Medieval human remains
These are the poorly preserved remains of a young adult (17-25 years) who's sex is undetermined.
The burial is Unphased.
They were buried in an extended supine position in a multiple grave orientated West-East. Multiple burials are quite rare in Early Medieval Wales. This is one of only five examples of double burials at the Five Mile Line. SK49 was buried to the left alongside SK48 with SK49's head turned to look at SK48. They were both unsexed young adults. Uniquely to the Five Mile Lane burials, the two's arms are linked together. Combined with the heads looking at each other, it seems a deliberate placement, however there's also the chance it's the result of post depositional disturbance.
SK49's remains are in a very poor state and survive only as small fragments.
