Dress
Blue cotton dress worn by Gertrude Morgan (nee Davies) as a midwife at Morriston Hospital, about 1965.
The dress has long sleeves, fitted at the cuff and fastened with two plastic and metal buttons on each cuff. The collar is a small, stand up, rounded shape. The centre-front opening is slit to the waist and fastened with three buttons. There are three pockets on the dress, two on the bodice and one on the right side of the skirt. There are three horizontal pleats on the hem of the skirt (there was four but one has been un-picked) and darts on the bodice and skirt at the waist to create a more fitted shape. All sewing is done by machine in black thread. The bodice is lined with white cotton and there is an embroidered label with the wearer's name, date and the hospital.
