Turret clock mechanism
This clock has a simple iron frame, each corner pillar ending at the top in a scroll design. All the wheels are of iron with a few brass bushes for pinions. It has both a going and striking mechanism and an anchor escapement for (missing) pendulum. The iron wheels suggest an early date (?14th-15th century), but the ironwork of the frame is characteristic of the 17th cetury. The use of brass also indicates a late rather than early date while the pendulum, which can have been added later, is post-1660. The clock may have been remade in the 17th century, some of the earlier elements having been retained.
