Early Medieval wooden palisade plank
Worked timber palisade plank with laftwork.Thick radial section with sapwood (now in two pieces). Diagonal trimming present on faces where the point has been cut. Traces of lap joints/ edge trenching on both point edges. At top end. the inner face bears linear scortch marks-possibly created by a stone within the platform heated during destruction of the site. Same tree as timber 546.
