Medieval silver annular brooch
Small, silver annular 'stirrup' brooch. The frame is circular in cross-section and is decorated with at least three groups of transverse lines on both sides, all inlaid with niello. The pin shaft is incised with a 'wriggle work' zig-zag line on each facet. The wrap-around head of the pin securing it to the annular frame of the brooch is plain. There is a small 'bar' at the junction of the pin shaft and head, to prevent snagging.
