Baby's frock
Baby's white cotton lawn frock. Made by Belgian refugee nuns in Newport, Gwent, during the First World War. The frock has a high waistline, square neckline, full skirt and short sleeves. The bodice, neckline, cuffs and hemline are trimmed with lace. The skirt is gathered at the waist and the hemline is decorated with a line of three horizontal pin-tucks. There are drawn thread work seams at the under arm and above the wide lace at the hemline.
