Suit trousers

Black suit trousers worn by Gerald Fitz Walker (1930-96) who emigrated from Jamaica to Port Talbot in the 1960s. Born in St Mary, Jamaica, he married Ivy May Leslie (also of Jamaica) in 1967. They lived in Enfield Street, Port Talbot, where they raised eight children.

Suit trousers to be worn with jacket .6. Also made from black twill wool, but the trousers are more of a blue shade of black. Button fly with 6 black plastic buttons and two metal hooks and bars at waist (on extended tab). Fly has black tabby woven cotton interlining and black synthetic twill lining. Slanted hip pockets at either side, one rear flap pocket on proper right side, fastened with one black plastic button. Flap lined with black synthetic fabric. Pocket lining (both hip and rear) made from white synthetic fabric. Inner waist lined with white synthetic fabric; there are also two layers of different types of white fabric interlining. There are two white plastic buttons at the inner centre back waist for attachment of braces, however there are no corresponding buttons on the front. Six lengths of black synthetic tubular braid used as belt loops. Centre back seam down to crotch is reinforced with white cotton tape. Crotch itself has a gusset of black tabby woven cotton fabric. Two waist tucks at either side of front. 4.5cm wide waistband of self fabric.
