Essay

Jenkin, Professor T.J.

Notes by Prof. T. J. Jenkin, Aberystwyth, in 1964 on sheep breeds and various aspects of Welsh life and Welsh folklore including dilectology, hedges, housework, farm work and crafts people, drovers, local characters, traditions, weddings. The information was as a response to the 1957 Welsh Folk Museum questionnaire.

Answer Books were sent out by the Welsh Folk Museum to individuals across Wales as a way of collecting and documenting information on aspects of folk culture in their areas, including agriculture, crafts, food, customs and dialects. The responses were hand-written in the books. The Answer Books had a similar purpose to the earlier questionnaires sent out in 1937.
