Roman copper alloy Polden Hill brooch
The outer edges of the short, semi-cylindrical side-wings with disc terminals, pierced to support the axial bar, are knurled. An elongated V-shaped tongue, ridged longitudinally in the centre extends from the rearward facing chord hook to about half-way down the bow. The tongue is flanked on either side by a raised ridge with ribbed ornament. There are traces of 'silvering'.
