Pot-lid
Pot-lid, earthenware, circular shape with cylindrical flange and flat top, the flange and underside of the lid partially obscured by the frame; the upperside of the lid decorated with an underglaze polychrome transfer-print of 'Landing the Fare - Pegwell Bay', showing a seaside scene with a boat and figures in the water being carried ashore, and a beach on which further figures are standing or reclining, around the bottom of the scene is printed the inscription "LANDING THE FARE. PEGWELL BAY", the print enclosed by a narrow circular line border which is partially obscured by the frame. The pot-lid mounted for display in a close-fitting circular wooden frame painted black.
