Jug, earthenware, Penhale-shape, standing on a straight-sided lobed foot-rim, pouch-shaped ridged body flaring out to a lobed lip-rim, slightly elongated beak spout, scrolled handle with raised thumb-spur and twig-like moulding to it; transfer-printed in black and overpainted in red, green, blue and yellow with the 'Bombay Japan' pattern, to either side of the body an oriental design with a Chinese vase standing on a patch of ground and issuing a flowering branch, further flowering branches to either side of the vase, sprays of flowers and foliage to the interior and exterior neck and to the handle, a narrow foliate border to the interior and exterior lip-rim and spout.
