Plate, pale buff coloured earthenware, circular shape with flat base and gently curving spreading sides; covered all over with a white tin-glaze with a slightly pinkish tinge to it, the upperside of the plate painted in blue with to the centre of the well the inscription "2 / Let him do / What he can / 1734", enclosed within a circular cartouche of a wreath of foliage, the glaze worn off and slightly chipped around the rim.
