What was it like in the early days of flight? Discover the story of the Museum's monoplane, the 'Robin Goch', and its Cardiff-born inventor, Charles Horrace Watkins. During this illustration and creative writing workshop pupils will explore the amazing stories of early aviation, science and invention.

✏️Take part

This workshop is led by award winning local author and illustrator Thomas Docherty. Thomas will explain the process of bringing an illustrated story to life on the page and help you create your very own illustrations based on the amazing, real-life story of the 'Robin Gôch'.

You will have the opportunity to view the actual monoplane in the museum, built by Charles Horace Watkins in 1908 and even sit in the replica cockpit on display.

You will meet Thomas Docherty, who will guide you through an illustration and creative writing workshop, inspired by the real-life story of the 'Robin Gôch', built by Cardiff inventor and engineer Charles Horace Watkins. Fun, historical, creative and inspiring! 

 

Duration: 1 hour
Cost: Led by Museum staff - £40 for up to 15 pupils, £60 for up to 35. Free for some schools (see booking information).
