Why does the Moon appear to change shape? What did we learn from the Apollo missions? Pupils will explore the phases of the Moon, discover what astronauts found on its surface and examine real rock and meteorite samples to reach conclusions about the surface of the Moon.
✏️ Take Part
Become a planetary scientist! Visualise the phases of the moon with a simple demonstration, then measure craters on Moon maps, using your data to calculate their sizes and plot their locations. Handle and identify meteorites from the Museum’s collections and experiment with creating craters, whilst learning about the practical challenges that Apollo astronauts faced in their experiments.
