Humanities at the Waterfront | Myths and legends: Cantref Gwaelod

🔍Discover and Explore 

Join us and explore the story of Cantref Gwaelod – the Welsh Atlantis. This Welsh folk story tells of a kingdom lost beneath the waves of the coast of Wales. Discover the story of Seithenyn, a Royal wedding feast and the power of the Sea.  

✏️Take Part 

This workshop is an interactive storytelling experience. During the workshop the class will have the opportunity to put their engineering skills to the test; to build their own defence wall. They will also have to use their imaginations to create a map of their own mythical kingdom.  

ℹ️About this session 

This session explores the mythical story of a kingdom and its people lost under the sea. While we discuss the area being lost to the sea we do not mention directly about people drowning or dying. Please let us know when you are booking if you have any pupils that would be sensitive to these themes, and we will do our best to make everyone feel comfortable! 

Duration: 1 hour
Cost: Led by Museum staff - £40 for up to 15 pupils, £60 for up to 35. Free for some schools (see booking information).
