What might I do on a placement here?

• Shadow front-of-house staff – this could be on the galleries, in the atrium, on the reception desk or around the site in the historic buildings.
• Shadow back-of-house staff – this could be portering duties, housekeeping and/or general maintenance tasks.
• Gardening – this would be gardening in our historic gardens.

What will I gain from a placement here?

• Experience of working as part of a team in a supportive setting.
• Develop work-based skills such as communication, problem-solving and timekeeping.
• A confidence boost!

Do I need to speak Welsh to do a placement here?

• For our front of house – yes. For back of house – no.

What else do I need to consider?

• Accessibility
• Public transport to St Fagans is very limited – you will need to consider how to get to this Museum.
• St Fagans is an outdoor museum so you may need to do part or all of your placement outside.
• Placements are subject to availability, and we cannot guarantee a placement for everyone – but we will do our best!

To support people on a placement we:

• reimburse travel expenses to and from the Museum.
• provide any clothing that may be required for the role for example overalls, uniform, boots, etc.
• offer discounts in our cafés and shops.
• provide references at the end of the placement.
