Event:Perspective(s) - Being Black in Wales

National Slate Museum
Finished

Join us for an engaging 'in-conversation' event exploring the varied experiences of being Black in Wales and how Wales' colonial past has shaped and influenced the work of four individuals.

The discussion featuring Professor Charlotte Williams OBE, Mfikela Jean Samuel and Nasir Adam, led by Artist Jasmine Violet,  will be a thought-provoking look at how art can serve as a powerful catalyst for dialogue and change, offering a unique lens through which the speakers share their experiences navigating the Welsh art world.

Following the discussion, attendees are invited to participate in a creative workshop offering an informal and reflective space to creatively engage with the themes explored during the event.

There will also be an opportunity to enjoy refreshments.

Don’t miss this opportunity to explore history, art, and identity in a unique setting.

Places are FREE but must be booked in advanced by emailing slate@museumwales.ac.uk.

This is an English language event. Please let us know when booking if you would like Welsh translation during the event!

Perspective(s) is a collaboration between the Arts Council of Wales and Amgueddfa Cymru, which seeks to bring about a step change in how the visual arts and heritage sector reflects the cultural and ethnic diversity of our society.
