As the National Slate Museum closes its doors for a period of exciting redevelopment, join us for a week of events to say goodbye … for now, make the most of the museum one last time (for a while) and discover what is coming next!
From guided tours explaining what we will conserve, improve and transform over the next two years and how we'll be working with the area’s varied communities to develop the range of stories we tell onsite to how we're preparing to safely move thousands of objects offsite for safe storage while we carry out the work to a look behind the scenes at some of our most interesting objects - there's a lot to enjoy! You can even come and enjoy craft events and meet a brand Gwyneth - our brand new Museum character - alongside our regular favourites, Hannah and Leusa!

Opening Hours

Open Daily 10am - 5pm
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. For safety reasons, we reserve the right to conduct bag searches when entering the museum.
Eat, drink, shop
- Our coffee shop serves a small range of hot and cold drinks, cakes and snacks.
- The Museum shop will be open during your visit.
- You are welcome to bring a picnic to the Museum.
Location Parking
Ample parking nearby, for cars and coaches. Please note there is a charge for the carpark.
Padarn Country Park car park is owned and operated by Gwynedd Council. The parking costs £4.50 – and there is a card facility payment. (www.paybyphone.co.uk/ or use the paybyphone app / Location 804552) If you can only pay by cash please be aware that we are unable to supply change at this time.
