Margaret the Matron
Join Margaret – a matron in the Quarry Hospital – in 1921 to find out more about life in the Hospital. She’ll tell you what it’s like looking after injured quarrymen, and occasionally people from outside of the industry. Life in the hospital isn’t easy – there are strict rules, hardworking staff, and some new treatments that may surprise you! Step into her shoes, hear real stories from the past, and discover what it was like to work, heal, and live in the Quarry Hospital over 100 years ago.
Thursday 2 April and 9 April during the Easter holidays from 12pm to 4pm.
Decorate a Slate As part of your visit, families can also enjoy our special Decorate a Slate activity, taking place every Thursday in the Quarry Hospital during the Easter holidays. Get creative and design your own unique slate to take home as a keepsake!
Opening Times
The Quarry Hospital is open Monday to Sunday, 10am–5pm.
We’re always working on new and exciting exhibitions and events – why not be among the first to hear about them?
