Join us for a captivating workshop with Indian artist Purnendu Dey. Discover the art of material manipulation and sculptural object development in a fun and informative session. Inspired by Dey's latest commission Restoration Clay Project Led by the Wales Puja Committee the workshops are inspired by the reconstruction of a magnificent Durga idol set, including the divine deities Durga, Lakshmi, Saraswati, Kartik, and Ganesh, this workshop offers unique insights into their creation. 

 

Workshop Content:

  • Insights from Context Pernudu Dey: Gain insight into the clay restoration project from expert Pernudu Dey.

  • Clay Manipulation: Create anatomical models using clay and hay with guidance from our artist in residence and archival footage of idol restoration.

  • Adornment: Use materials from India to create miniature sets and regalia for your creations.

  • Take Home Your Creations: Everything you make can be taken home and enjoyed.

  • Support and Assistance: Wales Puja committee members and artist Mr. Purnendu Dey, along with his wife Chitralekha, will be available for questions.

Opening Hours

10am – 5pm daily (open Bank Holiday Mondays)

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. For safety reasons, we reserve the right to conduct bag searches when entering the museum.

Admission is free, however a charge may apply for some exhibitions, events and activities.

Parking

If you are driving to St Fagans, you will have to pay for parking. The cost is £7 per day and can be paid by cash or card. FREE for disabled badge holders and motorbikes. £30 yearly ticket in advance. This charge is for parking only – entry to the Museum remains free.

Eat, drink, shop

  • Our cafes and restaurant will be open during your visit. 
  • The Museum shop will be open during your visit.
  • You are welcome to bring a picnic to the Museum.
