New ANPR Car Park System - FAQS

When is this change happening?

Signage will be displayed from Tuesday 14 April, with the system going live from Tuesday 21 April.

What does this change mean for my Season Pass at St Fagans?

  • You will no longer be required to use or display your physical pass in your registered vehicle. Physical passes will be invalid, and you will not be issued with any new physical passes in the future.
  • We will upload the registration number of the vehicle you registered your pass with into the system for the cameras to recognise and note that your parking is paid for.
  • As per the terms and conditions of the season pass, this covers 1 registered vehicle for 12 months from the point of purchase.
  • Just drive into site and park as normal, our system will do the rest.

Second Season Pass - Limited Offer

For all existing Season Pass Holders that wish to purchase a Season Pass for a second vehicle, we are offering for a limited time, a 50% discount on a second Season Pass. This means a second pass would be priced at £22.50.

Terms & Conditions of this offer are:

  • This offer is available to redeem up to 5:00pm on Friday 26 June 2026.
  • Purchases must be made at the St Fagans Welcome Desk, so that our team can add the pass to your current account.
  • The second pass is valid for a full year from the date of purchase and will have its own expiry/renewal date, separate to your 1st season pass.
  • The discounted rate is for 1 year only. The pass would be full price at time of renewal.
  • The discounted rate applies to 1 additional car per season pass holder only.

What happens if my registered car breaks down and I am using a hire or replacement vehicle when I visit site?

During your visit, please inform the welcome desk staff if you are using a hired or replacement vehicle, providing proof of hire of the car, along with the licence plate so our team can register the vehicle to validate parking for that date.

What if I buy a new car and need to change the licence plate of the registered vehicle linked to my Season Pass?

Reach out to ticketing@museumwales.ac.uk informing them you need to update your details and registered vehicle OR visit staff at the St Fagans welcome desk and let them know you need to update your details, and they will update our system.

Does the pass cover the ANPR systems at National Museum Cardiff & Big Pit?

The season pass is only valid at St Fagans' car park. You will need to pay for parking at the other sites.

What happens if I receive a PCN by mistake for parking at St Fagans?

Should under any circumstances you receive a PCN in the post, then follow the appeals procedure listed on the notice and inform First Parking that you are a Season Pass holder, provide the details of the registered vehicle linked to your season pass and instruct them contact Amgueddfa Cymru. We will liaise with them to resolve. You would not be charged for parking with your registered vehicle with a valid season pass.
