Come to Ogmore Beach to learn about the wildlife, rocks and fossils of the area, and join us for our annual beach clean for the Marine Conservation Society.

1pm - 2.30pm: The Great British Beach Clean.

2.30pm - 3.30pm: Lunch

3.30pm - 5pm: Free educational beach activities.

  • Please Note: Booking is essential for the educational activities. Please provide a contact telephone number when booking in case we need to cancel due to bad weather. 
  • EQUIPMENT – We will provide all equipment needed but sensible footwear and clothing are highly recommended in case the weather isn't great, and sun-cream in case it is!
  • MEET - On the beach in front of the Lifeguard Station (to the left of the slipway down to the beach). We will be wearing a bright orange/yellow tabards.
  • LUNCH - If you are coming for the activities and the beach clean you may want to bring a packed lunch.
  • CAR PARKING - The pay and display parking cost is approx £6 for the day so please bring change or pay via mobile app.
  • Anyone can come along to the beach clean without booking.

Some of our staff speak Welsh, some are learning and others speak English only. Keep an eye out for the Iaith Gwaith lanyards to see who’s who. If you’re learning Welsh, give it a go!

Opening Hours

From Tuesday 5 November until 28 February 2025, we will be open 10am – 4pm. 

Galleries close at 3.45pm.

Open for 6 days a week Tuesday to Sunday. Closed Mondays but open Bank Holiday Monday.

Christmas and New Year: Closed 23 - 26 December and 1 January. 

Parking

A Visitor Car Park is situated behind the Museum, off Museum Avenue. Visitors parking here will receive a ticket at the point of entry and need to pay £6.50 for the day at a pay-station located at the rear of the car park. Please note that the pay-stations only accept card payments – no cash payments are accepted. Visitors can use any credit/debit cards (except for American Express), or Apple or Android Pay.

Parking is free to blue badge holders. Please use the intercom at the exit barrier to verify your blue badge permit. Disabled parking is also available at the front of the Museum, on Gorsedd Gardens Road.

Eat, Drink, Shopping

  • The Museum café in the Main Hall is open every day 10am-4pm offering a range of drinks and snacks.
  • The restaurant is open weekends and bank holidays at 11am-3pm.

Accessibility

If you prefer to visit when we’re less crowded, there are usually fewer people on our site from 3pm each day.
