Mounira Al Solh, with Oasis One World Choir, presents a new collaboratively developed performance 'a night hour, as looong as a song.' Marking the opening of Al Solh’s exhibition as part of AM10, the performance explores migration, defiance, solidarity and connection to place.
The choir will perform songs, some written by their own members such as ‘Ayman’s Song’, which contains multiple languages, including Arabic, English, French, Swahili and Welsh. The songs will be subtly remixed and following the performance will become a sonic element within a major new sculpture as part of Al Solh’s exhibition.
Members of the choir have also contributed to Al Solh’s ongoing project ‘I believe in our right to be frivolous’ which forms part of her exhibition at National Museum Cardiff until 25 February 2024.

About Oasis One World Choir
Oasis One World Choir welcomes people seeking sanctuary in Cardiff and the wider community. We aim to learn from those who connect with us; sharing, growing and forming together. Our choir is a lifeline for many people who are faced with restarting their lives in a new country; often in a language that is completely new to them. The language of music transcends these barriers, and our choir allows people to make new friends and build community together.
We’re always working on new and exciting exhibitions and events – why not be among the first to hear about them?
