Event:Organ Recital - Jefferey Howard
Join us for the next concert in our organ recital series at 1pm on Friday 25 July.
Jeffrey Howard BEM was born in Cardiff and studied at the University of Wales College, Cardiff and the Royal Academy of Music, London. He is Director of Music at St John’s College and Cardiff Metropolitan Cathedral. Accompanying work includes Sir Bryn Terfel, Sir Willard White, Alfie Boe, and Dame Shirley Bassey. As arranger he has worked with the RPO, RLPO, BBCNOW, WNO, CBSO and Budapest Symphony Orchestra and appears as keyboard soloist with Karl Jenkins. As Vocal Coach he has worked at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Welsh National Opera, Wales International Academy of Voice and Vocal Tutor at Cardiff and Bristol Universities. Choral conducting activities include Treorchy Male Choir, Cambrensis Choir, The St David’s Praise Choir and the National Eisteddfod of Wales Choir.
In 1996, Jeff was Guest Artist in Residence at First United Methodist Church, Lubbock, Texas and other organ work has included the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, St Paul’s Cathedral, Notre Dame de Paris and Washington National Cathedral. As an arranger and orchestrator, Jeff frequently works with BBC NOW, Songs of Praise, S4C, Bryn Terfel, Shan Cothi and Wynne Evans. As arranger for Only Men Aloud!, he toured the UK twice releasing two albums on the Universal label - 'Band of Brothers’ won a Classical Brit Award in 2010.. Jeff is a recipient of the Joseph Parry Award for services to Welsh music, the Associateship of the Royal Academy of Music, was awarded the British Empire Medal in 2019 and was installed into the Gorsedd at the Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales in 2023.

Opening Hours
10am–5pm. Galleries close at 4.45pm.
Open for 6 days a week Tuesday to Sunday. Closed Mondays but open Bank Holiday Monday.
Admission is free, however a charge may apply for some exhibitions, events and activities.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Parking
A Visitor Car Park is situated behind the Museum, off Museum Avenue. Visitors parking here will receive a ticket at the point of entry and need to pay £6.50 for the day at a pay-station located at the rear of the car park. Please note that the pay-stations only accept card payments – no cash payments are accepted. Visitors can use any credit/debit cards (except for American Express), or Apple or Android Pay.
Parking is free to blue badge holders. Please use the intercom at the exit barrier to verify your blue badge permit. Disabled parking is also available at the front of the Museum, on Gorsedd Gardens Road.

Eat, Drink, Shopping
- The Museum café in the Main Hall is open every day 10am-4pm offering a range of drinks and snacks.
- The restaurant is open weekends and bank holidays at 11am-3pm.
Accessibility
If you prefer to visit when we’re less crowded, there are usually fewer people on our site from 3pm each day.
