Archaeologists use illustration for a variety of purposes: to document and record, to organise and understand their findings, and ultimately to communicate them with a wider audience. 

Visit Behind the Scenes in the studio with Jessie James, Archaeological Illustrator, and learn how illustration is a part of archaeology at National Museum Cardiff.

Booking Information 

  • The tour will last for approximately 60 minutes.  Please meet at the Ticketing Desk in the Main Hall.This will be held in the Archaeology Illustration Room.

  • The tour costs £8 per person.
  • The tour will be in the curator's first language which is English.
  • Due to the behind-the-scenes nature of the tour there will be some spaces which will require you to be in close proximity to other visitors and the curator.
  • Tickets are non-refundable, and no refunds or exchanges will be given to latecomers.
