Slate wagon

Great Western Railway (Manufacturer)

An iron and steel wagon, built by G.W.R., for Craig Ddu quarry. Four single flanged wheels, fixed to axles, and fitted into G.W.R. axle boxes with hinged grease flaps. Braked on two wheels by side attached hand brake, with spring clip (presently seized). Complete with coupling links. Plated on both sides : 37 ; and 17 cwt 2 gr. Original lettering almost certainly white. Curved wheel spokes.

Wagon was recovered from the foot of Maenofferen incline, at SH 707466; and was the best example of its type to be seen.
