Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Dinorwic slate quarry, photograph

unknown (Photographer)

Photograph of a group of men dressed in their ‘Sunday best’ suits. The men in the photograph are all believed to be quarrymen. In the photograph is William Humphreys – front row, far left. William Humphreys worked as a quarryman at Ponc California, Dinorwig Quarry, and lived at Gwastadnant, Nant Peris. This photograph shows the clothing worn by quarrymen – presumably to chapel on a Sunday – during the early to mid twentieth century.
