S.S. GLANHAFREN (painting)

View of vessel in rough sea. Name of ship painted bottom centre. Unsigned and undated. Stuck onto modern card mount.

This vessel was completed at South Shields in 1888 as HARPERLY for London owners. In 1890 she was bought by John Mathias & Sons of Aberystwyth, who operated her in the tramping trades out of Cardiff. She was wrecked off Cape Rizzuto,Italy on 14 Feb. 1905 whilst bound from Penarth to Venice with a cargo of coal.
