Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Portrait of a Young Man

WARD, James (Artist)

The loose, often scratchy handling of the paint is characteristic of the artist. Ward trained as an engraver and his early pictures were influenced by his brother-in-law, the painter of rural life, George Morland. Now best known for his animal paintings, Ward also undertook portraits, landscapes and history scenes.
