Seal impression: Margam Abbey Second Common

The Blessed Virgin crowned, standing under an elegantly carved canopy, the Child supported with her left arm, a sceptre topped by a rose-flower held with herright hand; in field,to each side, a shield: dext. three clarions, two and one (badge of the CLARES, later lords of Glamorgan and'patrons'); sin. three chevrons, CLARE; above each shield , a small quartrefoil slipped; below them, in opposing positions,a crescent enclosing a roundle, and an estoile; beaded border. In base, under a carved arch surmounted to either side by a quatrefoil, an abbot, pastoral staff in hand (crook turned inwards) kneeling in prayer to the right.
