Commemorative handkerchief

Handkerchief made from a single piece of thin white silk, with lines of drawn thread work around the border. Embroidered with the French and British flags in coloured silk threads, and an aeroplane motif in silver thread. Inscribed '1915 SOUVENIR OF FRANCE' in blue silk thread. Belonged to a family from Ynyshir.

Small square shaped handkerchief made from a single piece of thin white silk, with lines of drawn thread work border, 1cm in from the edge; embroidered in one corner using coloured silk floss thread and a combination of satin and back stitch; with motif of aeroplane in silver thread and French and British flags in red blue and white; the words 1915 and SOUVENIR OF FRANCE are embroidered in blue thread.
