Plate of soft-paste porcelain, standing on a straight sided foot rim, with a rim of six large and six small lobes, painted with a man in a pink robe and a blue head dress riding on an elephant in a grassy foreground with two palm trees to the side and pink and pale blue hills in the background, contained within a six lobed cartouche of gilt and blue bands, with an iron red stylised flower motif surmounting each lobe, six ornamental reserves bordered in blue and gilt around the rim containing brightly painted exotic birds in landscapes, chocolate banding to outer rim; the whole on a marbled ground of turquoise and duck-egg blues and greens with gilt feathering and flecking.
