Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Milk jug, hard-paste porcelain, inset base within a flattened-off foot-rim, tapering cylindrical body, plain beak spout, square-shouldered angular handle, domed cover with to the top a nipple-topped finial with a beaded edge; the exterior sides of the jug and the top of the cover covered with a light brown ground in imitation of the grain of wood, against which is reserved to either side of the an oval panels finely painted in black monochrome with miniature landscapes showing to one side a boat on a river with classical ruins, and to the other a tall building by the side of a river, around the exterior lip-rim and spout of the jug and the rim of the cover a running border of miniature forget-me-nots between two gilt lines, the handle picked out in gilt, a gilt edge to the rim of the cover, the top of the finial painted gilt, the beading painted green.
