Stretcher from Dinorwig Quarry's ambulance

A wood and canvas stretcher, with four small casters / wheels attached to the wooden frame for ease of movement. The stretcher can be folded when not in use, and then expanded to its full width when required. This stretcher was once part of the fixtures and fittings of Dinorwig Quarry’s ambulance. Dinorwig Quarry had an ambulance since the 1940’s - Dinorwig Quarry Hospital closed in 1946, and from this date "...all accident cases were taken directly from the quarry by statutory ambulance to the CaA Infirmary." (Davies, E. , The North Wales Quarry Hospitals and the Health and Welfare of the Quarrymen , Gwynedd Archives Service , 2003 , p.84).
