Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Oil gas buoy

Large metal and wood buoy, base painted red and black with metal and wood lattice top painted red, white and black.

This buoy carried a lamp which was fuelled by acetylene gas contained in cylinders and replenished every few months. Its function was to mark the South Patches off the coast of South Wales.
