Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Queen Alexandra Dock, Cardiff, negative

Sir Humphrey Browne (Chairman of the British Transport Docks Board) and official party outside the main airlock entrance of the polydrome temporary warehouse at Queen Alexandra Dock, Cardiff.

The "Polydrome" was a dome-shaped frameless structure (in this case 250 feet long x 120 feet wide x 60 feet high) fabricated from PVC reinforced with woven nylon and supported entirely by low pressure air pumped in by two electric fans (with a diesel generator in case of mains power failure). It was manufactured by Polydrome AB of Enkoping, Sweden and supplied by Youngman System Building of Crawley.
