Bronze Age Gold from Wales
Sugar basket
Boat shaped with shoulder; hinged handle in the form of a pointed arch. Dark crimson japan throughout, excluding the underside of base, with gold floral scrolls at each end. Heavily varnished to the exterior and handle. Crazed.
Marked on the underside 'Japan'd/ by Pyrke of Usk/ Monmouthshire'.
