Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Excavation at Hafod foundry, photograph

Jones, Robert Protheroe (Photographer)

Archaeological excavation at Hafod foundry, Swansea, 21 August 2015. Fragments of fireclay refractory brickwork excavated from within ashpit of reverbatory furnace at the west end of the main foundry building. The stalactite-like form of the burnt and melted ends of the bricks indicate that they formed part of the arched roof of the firegrate or body of the furnace.
